How to Tune the Guitar

Tuning a guitar is absolutely essential if you want to play the guitar. For beginners, it is imperative that you learn how to tune before you actually play the instrument. Tuning a guitar can be done manually or by using guitar tuners. Types of strings and their tuning keys: Before tuning a guitar, it is important to have adequate knowledge about the different types of strings on a guitar and their tuning keys. This will help you tune it correctly.

Tuning the sixth string: This is the thickest string on your guitar and there are chances that this string is perfectly tuned, but nevertheless, it is important to tune it as accurately as you can between the 1st E and middle C.

Tuning the A String: This is the second step in attempting to learn to tune a guitar, which involves placing the first finger of your left hand on the E string behind the fifth fret and picking the fifth and sixth strings so that the notes are the same.
